Just as the caustic bloat is the earliest type of bloat, the Caustic gas trap is the first and most common type of trap. The cloud of Caustic gas is not pleasant, but it is unlikely to kill before you can escape, unless you are low on HP. As with all traps, throwing an item such as a dart onto the pressure plate allows you to trigger it from a distance; this is allows you to harm or block enemies. As the gas deals damage proportional to the victim's maximum HP, it is effective against even the toughest monsters. In version 1.6.2, allies will attack you if you block their path out of a cloud of caustic gas.
