Some enemies have acidic attacks that will damage equipment.
If you hit an Acid Mound or an Acidic Jelly with an unprotected weapon the weapon will receive a -1 enchantment. If you are hit by one of them or shot by an Acid Turret and are wearing an unprotected armor, your armor will receive a -1 enchantment.
Armor can be protected with a Scroll of Protect Armor. Likewise, weapons can be protected with a Scroll of Protect Weapon. Protected items are displayed in the inventory screen with a } instead of a ) after their letters.
